Diving Vietnam
Diving Vietnam
When people think about scuba diving, i'd imagine Vietnam is not the first destination to come to mind. I've done a fair bit of diving around Nha Trang and, although it's not a world class destination, there's still some really nice diving to be had.
If you only want to see mantas and hammerheads then Vietnam isn't the place for you, but if you're into the wierd and wonderful world of macro critters or just like drifting along above beautiful corals then Nha Trang is worth a look.

There are over 350 species of coral in the reefs around Nha Trang and a wide variety of tropical reef fish, moray eels, shrimps and invertebrates. There's quite a few rare species so if you're lucky you could see anglerfish, sea moths, flying gurnards, leaf scorpianfish and dragonettes. Moray eels are fairly common and one site has a resident giant moray. With a good guide you could tick some long sought after creatures off the list! However, you can expect to see damage to the reefs, both from dynamite and cyanide fishing, and the actions of what must either be hugely uninformed or massively inconsiderate divers and snorkelers.
